Additional contributions
Most employer funds will let you make personal contributions, either on a before tax basis or after-tax basis. How you contribute will have tax implications so you should seek advice on which way is more suited to your situation.
There are a couple of ways you can make contributions
- Salary sacrifice where you 'sacrifice' take-home pay in return for contributions into super. Your super contribution is taken out of your pre–tax income salary. This effectively reduces your taxable income, and may result in lower income tax overall. You can arrange this with your employer.
- After tax, including co-contributions. These can be through Direct debit, BPAY and with a cheque.
